Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012 US) It’s #FondueSunday and todays entry is this revisionist (obviously) historical action flick. It’s pretty much in the name so not much to explain here. I wasn’t planning on doing Fondue Sunday this month but this popped up and well why not. I don’t know if I would exactly call this fondue and here is why. Despite the ridiculous premise the production value was quite high. I especially liked the editing. The coloring work was a bit odd at points but it did go with the theme. Abe had of course supernatural abilities. I am in awe of his super time management abilities. He was a: Lawyer, Politician, Husband, Father, Presidential candidate and then President and on top of all that he spent nights Vampire Hunting. I didn’t get dressed Saturday. At first glance its a really stupid film with a predictable plot and no real standouts in acting BUT it made an interesting allegory I don’t see often. You would think that the allegory of the vampires was to do with slavery but no it’s “The Second Son”, stepping out of the shadows and all. They did a good job on that. I don’t know if that element came from the novel the film is based on or was added in the script. It’s there and I don’t feel they stumbled into it. Hubs thinks they stumbled into it. Look for it. It makes the film more interesting. Find it on Hulu.
